According to activist’s family, they had already applied for his treatment many times. However, the officials repeatedly denied granting medical leave. In 2019, Faraji was detained by security officials of the Iranian-mullah regime . A few months later, he was temporarily released pending the completion of the investigation into the opened case with a property deed as a guarantee.
Asghar Faraji was sentenced to a total of 17 years of imprisonment on the charges of "assembly and collusion to act against national security, membership in illegal groups, propaganda against the system," and two years of mandatory residence in "Dehsalm" area of Nahbadan in South Khorasan province.
