"All Islamic and non-Islamic systems must be supported by the people in order to be considered legitimate. A number of intellectuals proposed holding a referendum to find out what kind of system the people want. However, Iranian officials do not agree with this proposal," said Molavi Abdolhamid.

On March 29, the leader of the Sunni community criticized the ruling system, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran was established by the people: "The power was not established by arms, a coup, or the military. Therefore, it is impossible to protect the system by force of arms."

He also stated that the Islamic Republic was established on April 1, 1979, through a referendum, and that the people were promised economic revival and freedom at the time, but these promises were not fulfilled.

"The economy has been hit so hard that we see the value of money declining on a daily basis. Corruptors are no longer satisfied with less and are looting the wealth of the people in even greater quantities," Molavi stated.
