Due to the economic crisis in the country, the young people of Sistan and Baluchistan are turning to fuel smuggling.

Activists and human rights media claim that the government's deliberate discrimination against minority-dominated provinces such as Sistan and Baluchestan and Kurdistan has resulted in an increase in fuel smuggling activities.

The Iranian regime is taking brutal measures to stop people who are involved in fuel smuggling as a result of the government's negligence. Citizens who are forced to engage in fuel smuggling are thus subjected to violence, with firearms being used.

During the ten days of the Novruz holiday, Iranian regime officials brutally murdered 27 fuel smugglers and seriously injured 18 others.

The victims are young people between the ages of 18 and 28. Those people would try to sell the fuel by truck to Pakistan.

During 2023, at least 172 Baloch people were killed and 42 injured while engaged in retail and illegal fuel sales.

For years, human rights organizations such as Amnesty International have reported the use of lethal force against fuel sellers in the region.
