Iran's "News Online" website reported on the completion of the Pashdan Dam, which is considered Afghanistan's largest dam on the Iranian border and was built along the Harirud Road.

Afghanistan's construction of a dam on the Harirud River is expected to exacerbate the dispute between the two countries over water share.

The Taliban authorities have stated that the second phase of the Pashdan dam above the Iranian border will be completed within 5 months.

The Pashdan dam generates 2 megawatts of electricity for Afghanistan with a capacity of 45 million cubic meters and can irrigate 13,000 hectares of agricultural land.

Experts believe that the dam's construction will exacerbate Iran and Tajikistan's water shortages. The dam was constructed in Herat Province, Afghanistan.
