What will happen now that Raisi has died?

Following the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter accident, his powers will be assumed by First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.

The Iranian media reported on this.

According to Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution, following the death of the president, and with the approval of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, the first vice president, Mohammad Mukhbirr, will be in charge of the country's executive affairs.

An election must then be scheduled in no more than 50 days.

Iran planned to hold presidential elections in 2025.

Supreme Leader Khamenei reassured Iranians that there would be no disruptions in state affairs.
