The name of the region where Raisi died was changed

The name of the location where the helicopter carrying former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and others crashed has been changed.

This was reported by Ali Salajig, the head of Iran's Environmental Protection Department.

He stated that in order to honor the former president's memory, the name of the Dizmar region of Varzigan district in East Azerbaijan province was changed to "Shahid Cumhur."

Dizmar Reserve Area is a mountainous and forested area in the reserve zone of Khudafarin, Varzigan, and Julfa districts in East Azerbaijan's north.

On May 19, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rehmati, Tabriz Friday Imam Muhammadali Ali-Hashim, and others were killed in a helicopter accident.

It should be noted that, despite the fact that the name of the Garadagh district, which includes Dizmar, was changed to "Aresbaran" 90 years ago, Azerbaijanis still refer to it by its historical name.
