The elections in Iran will not affect the United States' attitude toward this country

According to the election candidates, the Islamic Republic's policy is determined by its leader, and the election will have little influence on Washington's approach to Tehran.

One of the US State Department's spokespeople said this in response to a media question about Washington's attitude toward Tehran following the election.

"The elections in Iran were not free and fair, and a significant portion of the Iranian population refused to vote. The United States does not expect these elections to result in a fundamental shift in the Islamic Republic's approach to ensuring the rights of the Iranian people in the field of human rights," the spokesperson stated.

It should be noted that, according to official Iranian government data, 49.8% of eligible voters took part in the second round of the presidential election held on July 5.

Masoud Pezeshkian received 16.384 million votes (53.6%). Said Jalili, who received 13.538 million votes (44.3%), was defeated. Experts and observers have stated that the Tehran government's voter turnout statistics are incorrect.
