The Tehran and Suburban Bus Drivers Union issued a statement on the matter.

He protested the authorities' and prison management's cruel and discriminatory treatment of the prisoners.

"Even though the doctors recommended that Reza Shahabi be released from prison and have surgery on her neck and back in a hospital, the justice system and prison administration do not allow it," the report stated.

It is worth noting that the activist arrested on May 12, 2022, is originally from Shabister, East Azerbaijan province.

He was sentenced to six years in prison after being charged with "propaganda against the government" and "assembling and colluding to harm the country's national security."

Reza Shahabi had previously served a six-year prison sentence for peaceful activities. He suffered serious spinal and neck injuries as a result of being beaten by officers during his arrest.
