Asal Dadashloo, an Azerbaijani journalist and social activist based in Tehran, was sentenced for disseminating information about the death of a young girl, Nika Shakarami, who took part in the 2022 protests in Iran.
She posted about it on her social media account.
According to reports, Department No. 1027 of the Tehran Second Criminal Court sentenced Dadashloo to pay a fine of 6,600,000 Iranian tomans (160 dollars at the national exchange rate) for "spreading false information."
Along with her, 4 other journalists were sentenced to different punishments for spreading similar information.
It should be noted that Nika Shakarami went missing on Keshavarz Boulevard in Tehran on the night of September 20, 2022.
Nika Shakarami's body was discovered on September 30 by her parents in Tehran's Kahrizak prison.
According to official government information, Nika Shakarami died after falling from the building.
