The main focus of Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad last evening was on global and Eurasian issues.
The "Interfax" agency reported on this.
"Of course, I am very interested in your thoughts on the overall situation in the region. Unfortunately, we can see that the situation is worsening. "This directly applies to Syria," Putin said, addressing Bashar al-Assad about the Middle Eastern situation.
Bashar al-Assad emphasized that the visit coincided with the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He said that during this period, bilateral relations have gone through many difficult tests: "During the past period, we have witnessed numerous changes within our countries. However, time has demonstrated that, thanks to our peoples' wisdom, our relations have been able to preserve the fundamental principles of strong trust."
