According to reports, a 23-year-old taxi driver severely beat Imam of Rasht's "Ali ibn Abutalib" mosque and hospitalized him.

Huseyn Hasanpur, the deputy chief of Gilan province's police department, confirmed the incident and stated that the taxi driver had been arrested.

According to local witnesses, an argument erupted between them after the unnamed mullah insulted the young man's clothing style and demanded that he follow Islamic rules.

It is worth mentioning that Ali Fallahiya, the former minister of security and intelligence, is also worried by the recent surge in attacks in Iran against mullahs.

He called on Friday imams and mullahs to learn martial arts, especially hand-to-hand combat, in order to stop the rising number of attacks against them.
