According to Iran's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, the country's income distribution is unfair.
He made this statement during a meeting with Mashhad province's economic and activist groups.
"East and West of the country are poor. "Look at Kurdistan, Azerbaijan, and Khuzestan, which have oil, gas, land, and water; their situation is far worse than Mashhad," Pezeshkian stated.
During the pre-election campaign, Masud Pezeshkian promised to distribute the country's income fairly among the provinces.
One of his main promises to Azerbaijanis is to establish an independent Sungun copper mine company and to try to keep the mine's profits in East Azerbaijan province.
