This was stated by Saeed Muntazir Almehdi, the spokesman for the Iranian police forces.
Earlier, Hamid Peyrovi, the head of the "Scientific Society for Suicide Prevention of Iran," stated that 6,000 people died by suicide in Iran last year.
According to Peyrovi, this is related to mental disorders, a lack of hope for the future, poverty, unemployment, and other issues.
It should be noted that, according to official data, over 40,000 Iranians have committed suicide in the last seven years, a figure that is increasing in comparison to previous years.
