After 5 months of struggle and litigation, the parents of Alpaslan Aghayi, were able to obtain a Turkish name document for their child
Ahmet Aghayi, Alpaslan's father, has reported on this.
He stated that the East Azerbaijan branch of the Iranian Registration Office refused to issue a document to his child because his name is Turkish.
"After that, we filed a complaint with the court, and after a long struggle, we were able to obtain an identity document in the name of Alpaslan," Aghayi explained.
It should be noted that the Iranian Registration Office's failure to issue identity cards to Azerbaijani children with Turkish names is associated with the fact that these names are not on the list of approved Iranian names.
According to the Registry Office, names that are not on the list are considered foreign and contradict Iranian identity.
