Local eco-activists reported on this.

"The municipality of Tabriz turned over 1000 square meters of the Golestan park area to one of the security agencies. Following that, trees were cut down in the historical park, and the green belt is still being destroyed," according to the information.

Golestan Park, located in Tabriz's city center and covering 5.2 ha, is one of Iran's oldest urban parks.

According to several historical sources, the current Golestan park was established during a visit to Tabriz by Zubeida Khatu, the wife of the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid, following the Arab occupation of Azerbaijan.

Golestan Park, which reopened as a park at the turn of the twentieth century, witnessed numerous political and social events.

Meetings and rallies were held here, and they played an important role in Azerbaijan and Tabriz's political, social, and cultural lives.

Rashid Behbudov's concert in Golestan Park in 1961, while on tour in Iran, is one of the most significant cultural events remembered by Tabriz's elderly.
