On September 22, local cultural activists handed out Azerbaijani-language books to schoolchildren in Tabriz .

According to reports, police forces attempted to prevent this in several locations, but were met with protests from parents.

It should be noted that every year, on the eve of the new academic year, cultural activists distribute books written in Azerbaijani to children in Southern Azerbaijani cities.

Activists are using this tool to introduce children to written texts in their mother tongue while protesting the government's ban on non-Persian languages.
