21 prisoners were executed in Shiraz prison

Within 11 days, 21 prisoners were executed in Shiraz, Iran's Adilabad prison.

This was reported by the Iranian Human Rights Organization.

According to reports, among those executed were two Afghan citizens and one who was slightly older.

They were charged with both murder and drug trafficking. The rise in executions prompted Mai Sato, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, to comment on the issue.

"Executions conducted in violation of fair trial rules and non-compliance with legal principles are considered illegal," she stated.
