Eleven prisoners were executed in Iran

Eleven prisoners from Tabriz, Kirman, Saravan, Kahnuj, Shiraz, Kashan, and Simnan prisons were executed.

The people who were executed were accused of drug trafficking and murder. Furthermore, the number of people executed in Iran this year has nearly reached 500.

The increase in executions prompted Mai Sato, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, to comment on the matter. "Executions conducted in violation of fair trial rules and non-compliance with legal principles are considered illegal," she stated.
