Iranian forces allegedly killed at least 260 Afghan migrants after firing on them near the Kalgan border crossing.
According to Haalvsh, an Iranian human rights organization, survivors of the shooting described horrific scenes as Iranian military forces targeted the group.
According to Haalvsh, two survivors stated that a group of approximately 300 migrants were attempting to cross the border when they were shot at and targeted with RPGs. Dozens were also wounded.
"On Sunday evening, the Islamic Republic's military forces ambushed in advance at the Kalgan-Saravan border, targeting dozens of Afghan citizens with direct fire and RPGs. As a result, dozens of these migrants were killed and dozens more injured,” the organization stated.
Images released by the alleged massacre survivors show that numerous migrants were shot several times.
Iranian officials have not yet responded to these claims.
