This is stated in the joint statement of the aforementioned institutions.

According to the statement, Iran's control over these islands violates the UAE's territorial integrity and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

The Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union have emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement with Tehran in order to reduce regional tensions, ensure the peacekeeping of Iran's nuclear program, and put an end to Tehran's actions toward expanding its ballistic missiles, drones, and weapons.

Following the publication of the statement, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded, calling it unfounded.

"The claims of the Cooperation Council of the Gulf States and the European Union regarding the three islands are baseless; these islands belong to Iran and will always be so," Araghchi stated.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs criticized the European Union's signing of this statement, accusing it of lacking mutual understanding and causing confusion among the region's countries.

It should be noted that earlier Iran's allies, Russia and China, also said that the mentioned Gulf islands belong to the United Arab Emirates.
