Abbas Najafi, the prosecutor for Hamadan province, provided details on this.

He stated that the majority of the methanol used in the production of fake alcoholic beverages was provided by a Hamadan-based medical equipment company.

According to Najafi, a criminal case was opened and eight people were arrested. It should be noted that on October 6, 18 people in Hamadan were hospitalized after being poisoned by fake alcohol.

It should be noted that because the production of alcoholic beverages is illegal in Iran, thousands of people are poisoned and killed each year as a result of illicit production.

Abbas Majidi, the head of Iran's Medical Expertise Center, recently stated that 644 people died as a result of consuming non-standard alcohol in the previous year.
