The spokesperson of the city council of Tabriz resigned due to pressure

Prior to that, Fridun Babayi Aghdam, the City Council spokesman, was compelled to step down for promoting the removal of old trees from Tabriz's Golestan National Park.

Information indicates that Babayi Aghdam was compelled to resign from the City Council as a result of the security agencies' pressure on his family members. According to reports, his brother brought him to the detention facility and repeatedly questioned him.

It should be mentioned that Fridun Babaye Aghdam previously discussed and shared information regarding the state institutions' collusion to demolish Golestan National Park.

It should be mentioned that the municipality of Tabriz gave one of the security agencies 1000 square meters of the Golestan garden a few weeks ago. Following that, trees in the historical park were cut down, and the green belt began to deteriorate.

Despite the objections of several City Council members, cultural activists, and local residents, construction continues. Golestan Park, located in the city center and covering 5.2 hectares, is one of Tabriz's and Iran's oldest urban parks.
