A campaign was launched to request the release of South Azerbaijani human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, who is currently on medical leave in Tehran's Evin prison due to an aggravated condition.

Human rights organizations have issued statements about this.

At the same time, well-known lawyer Mostafa Nili revealed that Narges Mohammadi's life could be in jeopardy.

According to the lawyer, the internal lesion found in Mohammadi's right leg, which is suffering from several diseases, is most likely bone cancer. "To make a diagnosis, Nargiz Mohammadi should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible and a surgical sample taken," the lawyer wrote.

At the same time, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined the newly established campaign. He requested Narges Mohammadi to be placed on medical leave for ongoing treatment. "Prison management is silently killing a human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate by preventing her from receiving treatment," H. Clinton wrote on her X account.

It should be noted that Narges Mohammadi, who was born in Zanjan, South Azerbaijan, and was awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, had previously been sentenced to 12 years and 3 months in prison and 154 lashes for a variety of charges.

Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to another 6 months in prison by the Tehran Criminal Court a week ago for protesting in prison and demanding that executions be suspended.
