Eleven convicts were executed in Iran

Eleven convicts were executed in South Azerbaijan's Urmia, Tabriz, and Hamadan, as well as Iran's Minab, Karaj, Kahnuj, Shiraz, and Yazd.

The convicts who were executed were accused of drug trafficking and murder.

Furthermore, the number of prisoners executed in Iranian prisons has surpassed 150 in the past month.

Simultaneously with the increase in the number of death sentences, Mai Sato, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, expressed concern about the increased use of death sentences.

"Executions conducted in violation of fair trial rules and noncompliance with legal principles are considered illegal," Sato stated.
