The Revolution and State Court in Urmia, the capital of West Azerbaijan province, sentenced four prisoners to death on charges of "spying for Israel."
The West Azerbaijan Provincial Judicial System's public relations department issued a statement on the matter.
The indictment claimed that the individuals sentenced to death, with the Mossad's assistance, helped bring the equipment for Mohsen Fakhrizadeh's assassination to Iran and transport it to the assassination site.
It should be noted that on November 27, 2020, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh Mahabadi, was an Iranian nuclear physicist and scientist. He was regarded as the chief of Iran's nuclear program. On 27 November 2020, Fakhrizadeh was ambushed while traveling in a black Nissan Teana on a rural road in Absard, a city near Tehran.
Following the attack on Fakhrizadeh's car, security guards and armed men engaged in a fierce shootout.
M. Fakhrizade was seriously injured during the confrontation and died shortly after being transported to the hospital.
