Human rights organizations reported on this.

Gharibi was severely burned on the hands and back and imprisoned for 15 years and exiled for another 15 years. Prison officials have refused him access to essential medical care and a transfer to a hospital, despite his dire circumstances.

Because of the harsh conditions in Adelabad Prison, Gharibi had been experiencing severe mental distress prior to the incident. His psychological and emotional stress is increased by the fact that he is housed in a ward with other ISIS members and that he is only allowed to spend less than an hour each week outdoors.

Gharibi, approximately 30 years old, was arrested last year by security forces. He was found guilty on charges of "propaganda against the regime," "insulting the Supreme Leader," and "membership in opposition groups" by Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, which was presided over by Judge Sadati. He faces the harshest punishment possible, which consists of 15 years in prison and 15 years of exile in Tabas.
