Iran's foreign ministry summoned the ambassador of Hungary, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, to protest new sanctions against Iran.

This was reported by the Iranian media.

According to Iranian media, the summons came after the EU bloc and Britain imposed new sanctions against individuals and entities for their support for Russia's war against Ukraine, which the ministry earlier Tuesday described as "unjustified."

The European Union and the United Kingdom increased sanctions against Iran on Monday in response to its alleged support for Russia's war in Ukraine, including targeting a national shipping company, vessels, and ports used to transfer drones and missiles.

The sanctions also targeted Iran Air, the national airline, for transporting ballistic missiles and military supplies to Russia for use in Ukraine.
