Iranian Regime Prohibits Parents to Name Child in Turkish

A child from Germi, Ardabil province, does not receive an identity document from the citizenship registration organization because of the Turkish name Manas.

Manas's father, Hocjat Dana, posted about this on social media: "I visited the registry office in Germi today. They did not give my son a birth certificate named Manas."

Even though officials from the Civil Status Acts Registration Office previously issued an identity document in the same name, they are causing problems in the name of Manas once again.

Previously, another family was able to obtain identity cards in Manas' name for their children after a lengthy struggle.

The civil status act registration organization's officials refused to issue an identity document for the name Manas, citing it as a "undesirable name," despite the fact that an identity document had already been obtained for it.
