Political Prisoners Launched Hunger Strike

On November 26, political prisoners in the South Azerbaijani cities of Khoy, Urmia, Sulduz (Naqada), Ardabil, Salmas, and Tabriz went on hunger strike to demand the suspension of death sentences.

This was stated in a statement released by the "No Execution Tuesdays" campaign.

The protesting prisoners hope to draw the attention of the international community and human rights organizations to the country's growing number of death sentences.

In addition to the aforementioned Azerbaijani cities, political prisoners in 19 Iranian cities have launched a hunger strike with the same demand.

This is the 44th time that the hunger strike has been held on the second day of each week. It should be noted that since the start of the new year, the number of people executed in Iranian prisons has surpassed 820.
