Iran is seeking an execuse to invade Iraq

Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria and the withdrawal of the IRGC from the country, the Iranian government intends to strengthen its intervention in Iraq.

Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq, the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, made a statement confirming this.

The ambassador stated that "there is no concern about terrorists attacking Iraq, and in such a case, Iran will help the Iraqis."

The Iranian ambassador referred to the Syrian opposition groups that deposed Bashar Assad as "terrorists" and declared that Tehran would not permit a terrorist strike on Iraq.

"We will fight alongside the Iraqis if such an incident takes place. Iran has emphasized the importance of maintaining Iraq's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in a number of official declarations," Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq added.

Iran's state media also claimed that the Syrian opposition groups would attack Iraq after Syria, coinciding with the ambassador's remarks.

It is believed that this is intended to bolster Iran's weakened position and forces in Iraq. Contrary to Iran's claims, the main figure of the Syrian opposition, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, the head of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), has stated that they are willing to cooperate with all regional countries except Iran.
