"After 33 days of missing information, Yashar made a short phone call on December 22 and stated that he had been subjected to physical and mental abuse in prison," the report said.

According to his relatives and prison sources, the social activist went on hunger strike to protest torture. Yashar, who had been starving for several days, was taken to the prison's medical center after losing consciousness.

The family of the Azerbaijani activist said that the management of the Tabriz prison and the Iranian judicial system are responsible for his life.

It should be noted that on November 12, security officers raided and searched the home of an activist from Tabriz without a court order, seizing his personal belongings.

Yashar Tabrizi, a social activist and political prisoner, was last arrested on November 19 and has previously been convicted. He is accused of "undermining national security" and "making contact with foreign countries."
