Türkiye will help the new Syrian authorities in creating a army

Türkiye will assist the new Syrian authorities in creating a regular army of 300,000 people. Turkish military advisers and specialists will participate in its formation, the Turkiye newspaper reported.

"Our goal is to create a 300,000-strong army within a year and a half. The difficult situation inside the country and the Israeli threat make this necessary," General Ahmed Osman told the newspaper.

According to him, the backbone of the armed forces will initially consist of 70-80 thousand people, and in the shortest possible time, their number will increase to 150-200 thousand. The army will consist of approximately 40,000 Hayat Tahrir al-Sham members from Idlib, 50,000 Syrian People's Army soldiers, and military and intelligence officials who were not involved in the regime's crimes under Bashar al-Assad. Türkiye's military support at this stage is of exceptional importance," Osman said.

According to "Turkiye" newspaper, the Turkish military contingent will be deployed in five strategic locations across Syria's territory.
