Tehran imposed another ban on Afghan refugees

The government of Tehran has prohibited foreigners and Afghan refugees from residing, working or traveling within five kilometers of the Bueshr Nuclear Power Plant.

Bushehr governorate issued a warning about this.

"We ask all immigrants and foreign nationals to evacuate these areas as soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in their deportation and their refugee documents being deemed invalid," the warning stated.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that foreigners are not allowed to reside in the cities of Gonaveh, Deylam, or Oshnavieh, or in the neighborhoods surrounding them.

Notably, as part of ongoing pressure on Afghan refugees, the Iranian government prohibited their entry into 18 provinces a few days ago.

Furthermore, 700 refugees were deported and roughly 400,000 Afghans returned to their homeland from Iran in 2024. It is anticipated that another 600,000 Afghans will be deported by the end of March this year.
