This was reported by the human rights organizations.

Ibrahimi reportedly went on a hunger strike after his demand for conditional release was not fulfilled.

"The prosecutor offered Mukhtar Ibrahimi a commitment to sign an undertaking that he would not engage in political activity in exchange for conditional release, and Ibrahimi refused, so his demand for conditional release was not fulfilled," the human rights activists wrote in the report.

It should be noted that Mukhtar Ibrahimi was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of "forming a group and gang against the government" and "being a member of opposition groups and channels."

After some time, the second division of the Court of Appeal of the East Azerbaijan province reviewed his case, overturned the initial decision against Ibrahimi, and sentenced the activist to 1 year in prison on charges of "propaganda against the government." Mukhtar Ibrahimi was transferred to Maragha prison on January 22, 2024.
