Mohammadreza Faqihi was transferred to the Evin Prison

Mohammadreza Faqihi, a lawyer and human rights defender from Ardabil, Southern Azerbaijan, Iran, has been transferred to Tehran's Evin Prison to serve a five-year sentence.

Faqihi was arrested on October 12, 2022, for participating in a rally organized by lawyers in Tehran to protest the "violation of protesters' rights and Article 27 of the Iranian Constitution."

He was detained and questioned for several days before being temporarily released on bail on October 25th. In addition to his prison sentence, Mohammadreza Faqihi was barred from practicing law, leaving the country, or joining political organizations or groups for two years following his release.

Mohammadreza Faqihi has previously defended several national activists, including Abbas Lisani.
