It was reported by human rights organizations.

The information claims that on January 13, the Azerbaijani prisoner went on a hunger strike. Garaoglani, who has been in prison for nearly 5 years, started a hunger strike to protest the fact that his applications for conditional release have not been answered.

It should be noted that Hamid Garaoglani was arrested on June 27, 2020, and tried on September 28, 2020, at Branch No. 2 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court. He was charged with "spying on America and Israel," "contacting foreign media," "insulting the leader," and "tearing up a photo of Qassem Soleimani."

The death sentence given to the Azerbaijani prisoner was later commuted to 14 years in prison. He claimed that the charges against Garaoglani were unfounded and that a forced confession was obtained from him through torture.
