Azerbaijan National Movement activists were unlawfully arrested by security intelligence agencies and imprisoned in different wards of the Evin prison one year ago today, Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
The first instance court, which was held in the 15th Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court and presided over by Judge Abulgasim Salavati, sentenced eight Azerbaijan National Movement activists—Hossein Piri, Abdulaziz Azimi Gadim, Araz Aman, Bagir Hajizadeh, Ayaz Seyfkhah, Murteza Parvin, Taher Naqavi, and Kerem Mardane Mastalibayli—who had been detained in Evin Prison for a year. They were found guilty of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran, gathering and colluding with them, and undermining the country's security and interfering in internal affairs."
