According to the "Sharg" newspaper, a female patient was sexually assaulted in an ambulance. The girl passed away after receiving months of mental health treatment, while her sister killed herself right away.
In recent days, there have been three reports of rape and sexual assault in Iranian ambulances.
The Sharg newspaper reported on Thursday, February 7, that the incident happened in Karaj in October 2022, according to the girl's father.
The court reportedly sentenced the emergency worker to 99 lashes and the ambulance driver to 30 lashes, and both were banned from work for a total of two years.
The father said his daughter suffered a stroke “on the anniversary of those bitter days” and died at the age of 33, while half an hour later his other daughter committed suicide due to the shock of the incident.
Iran’s emergency services have yet to respond to the Sharg newspaper’s report, but they confirmed the previous incident.
Another incident took place on April 24 this year, when an emergency worker sexually assaulted a female patient in one of the northern cities.
Interestingly, according to the Etimad newspaper, this person received only 60 lashes and is still working in an ambulance.
