Israel is ready for permanent truce, on 1 condition...

Israel is willing to negotiate a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but only if the Palestinian movement Hamas is deposed, Israeli Government Spokesperson David Mencer told journalists.

"This should be clear: Israel will not end this war until all of our objectives are achieved. The ultimate goal is, of course, a permanent cessation of hostilities, but Hamas should not be in power, and the Gaza Strip should be de-militarized and de-radicalized," he stated.

Mencer stated that Israel's military campaign in Gaza remains the same: defeat Hamas, return all living hostages, and retrieve the bodies of the deceased.

The government spokesman also stated that Israel's authorities have begun consultations with US partners on phase two of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which calls for the complete cessation of hostilities in the enclave.

"Yes, we expect these discussions to be difficult, but we are committed to bringing our citizens home and achieving all of our other objectives in this war," he said.
