The Syrian Defense Ministry's border security forces carried out a large-scale military operation in Homs province, ensuring border security between Syria and Lebanon.

The operation in the Qusayr district of Homs province is part of a larger effort to combat drug and arms trafficking. At the same time, the operation was carried out to clear the remaining Hezbollah militants.

During the operation that lasted for days, fierce clashes with heavy and medium weapons took place in the region. As a result of the clashes, Syrian forces captured many strategic points and increased security control on the Syrian-Lebanese border.

Military operations commander Yusuf Khalid told Anadolu Agency that border security was ensured, saying, "We have taken control of this area. Illegal products and weapons were seized during the operation. Two Hezbollah members were captured and several others were neutralized. The clash lasted for six days."

It should be noted that the previous Syrian regime, together with Hezbollah, turned the Lebanese border into a "drug trafficking corridor."
