Pezeshkian said this while speaking to a group of economic activists in the province of Bushehr.

"We are discussing with the heads of government the idea of each province having its own governor with presidential powers, and we are getting ready to ask the Leader for permission to grant powers to governors," he stated.

"Who says I am more expert than the governor and the residents of the province? In each province, there may be a person, such as the regional head, who can make coordinated decisions and strongly develop the province's work. If we can give these powers to the provinces, they will find a way to solve the problems. I cannot sit in Tehran and make plans for this province (Bushehr). The person living in this province knows better how to plan this province."

It should be noted that, on July 5, 2024, the First Deputy of the Provincial Health Department, Mohammad Reza Aref, stated: "From the perspective of the 14th government, the governor of the province should have voting and decision-making powers, and a small parliament should be established in the province."
