Telecommunications workers in Tabriz declared another strike

Contract workers at the East Azerbaijan Province Communication and Telecommunications Company continued their strike on February 13, which began on February 12, with another protest.

Protesters gathered outside the Central Telecommunications Office in Tabriz, East Azerbaijan Province, to protest the nonpayment of wages, insurance, and other legal rights.

There is a significant disparity between their pay and benefits, according to the disgruntled workers, who have been on strike for two days despite putting in more hours than official employees for years.

The disgruntled employees stated that they will continue to strike and protest if management does not meet with them and provide guarantees about resolving their issues.

"Because we work on a contract, we have no job security and may be fired at any time. The promises made for two years to resolve the problem and get us officially employed have not been kept," they added.

They claimed that the company's management threatened them with contract termination and dismissal after they held protests demanding their rights.
