Motorcycle-riding thieves killed a student in Tehran

Student unions across the country have organized protests in response to the death of 19-year-old Ali Mohammad Khaleghi Darmiyan, an undergraduate business student at Tehran University's Faculty of Management.

According to police, the student was returning to his dormitory in Tehran's Amirabad district on Wednesday night when he was stabbed by thieves while attempting to steal his backpack.

According to reports, the student died early yesterday morning from his injuries. According to the student organization, the previous lack of security in the area resulted in theft, extortion, and violence, causing injuries and property damage to students.

As a result, despite students' continuous reports of these incidents and the unsafe environment around the dormitories by the country's student union councils, as well as their protests and demands to Tehran University officials to ensure student safety, the university has taken no action in this matter.

According to the Faraz online newspaper, a large number of dormitory students gathered in Village Square on Thursday evening following the publication of news of the 19-year-old student's murder.

According to online media, students are protesting security guards' carelessness and a lack of supervision by university officials in terms of ensuring dormitory security.
