Teachers from Tabriz appealed to Pezeshkian regarding their native language

Teachers at Tabriz University made an appeal to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian after the Iranian parliament failed to pass a bill on teaching non-Persian languages.

Tabriz media reported on this. Article 15 of the Iranian constitution, which calls for the teaching of native languages, must be implemented, according to the 192 petition signatories.

Notably, a draft law allowing for the two-hour weekly teaching of Persian and non-Persian languages was put to a vote on February 26 during an open session of the Iranian parliament.

Of the 246 deputies who participated in the vote, 104 voted in favor of the draft law, 130 voted against it, 5 deputies abstained, and 7 did not participate in the vote.
