Tehran is now in its fifth year of drought, with the capital experiencing water shortages due to a 45 percent decrease in rainfall.

According to the report, the amount of water in the dams that provide water to the capital has dropped, and weather predictions suggest that the drought will persist in the upcoming year.

The Tehran Water Authority has called on the population to reduce their consumption by 20 percent to prevent water shortages during the summer months.

According to reports, Tehran is experiencing an imbalance in its water resources and consumption, with some households using 500 liters of water per person per day—much more than is recommended.

In this regard, it was mentioned that the citizens who use excessive amounts of water will receive a warning in the beginning and that, should their usage continue, their water supply will be cut off.
