Ahmed al-Sharaa stated that he will not disclose the total number of deaths until the independent committee's investigation is completed.

Ahmed al-Sharaa formed an independent seven-member committee to investigate the causes of the increased violence in the coastal provinces, as well as to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The new head of the Damascus administration has promised to punish all those involved in crimes against civilians, the majority of whom are Alawite, during the clashes.

"Syria is a legal state. The law will apply to everyone. We fought to protect the oppressed and we will not allow anyone's blood to be shed unjustly and anyone, even those closest to us, to go unpunished," the agency quoted the president as saying.

It should be noted that on March 6, clashes erupted between security forces loyal to the new Syrian authorities and supporters of former President Bashar al-Assad in the provinces of Latakia, Tartus, and Homs.

On March 10, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that the operation in the country's coastal provinces had concluded and that pro-Assad armed formations posing a security threat had been neutralized.
