Lebanon strengthens its military presence on the Israeli border

In order to expand the number of soldiers on the Israeli border, the Lebanese government has consented to call up an extra 4,500 troops.

This was reported by the office of the president of Lebanon. According to the report, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated, "Three weeks ago, the government agreed to call up 4,500 soldiers to strengthen our presence in the south."

J. Aoun praised the successful collaboration between the Lebanese Armed Forces and the UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) and reaffirmed Lebanon's adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

He also mentioned that the Israeli army frequently attacks Lebanese territory and breaches the ceasefire agreement. Regarding the disarmament of the Hezbollah movement, the Lebanese leader stated that such matters will be settled by means of discussion.

He emphasized that the only legitimate owners of firearms are the Lebanese Armed Forces.
