“Both countries are close friends of Azerbaijan. With Türkiye, we are allies. We signed the Shusha Declaration in 2021, and formally became allies. And Israel is a friendly country to Azerbaijan, and for many years, mutual friendship have been demonstrated in difficult times for both of us. Therefore, of course, for us, these tensions between two countries is very disturbing and a matter of concern,” the Azerbaijani President emphasized.
"We did not advertise or boast about our mission. We simply operated behind the scenes. Our goal was to achieve the restoration of relations between two friendly countries," President Aliyev noted.
He emphasized that as a result of the process, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog paid an official visit to Turkey, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met directly in the United States. In light of this diplomatic progress, relations between the two countries were normalized at the time.
