Teachers and education officials have protested the memorandum of understanding between the General Police Command and the Iranian Ministry of Education.
In a statement, the Iranian Education Workers Coordination Council made this claim.
The council described this action as an insult and oppression of education, teachers, and students. "The entry of police forces into school areas is clearly illegal, a violation of the rights of students and teachers, and a means of oppression against them," the statement said.
The statement's authors explicitly stated that they would oppose the militarization of schools and cautioned the Ministry of Education in this regard. They viewed this step as a failure of the government's policy of mandatory headscarf regulations.
It should be noted that, under the agreement, the police were officially permitted to enter schools, train students, and monitor the mandatory headscarf regulations for female students.
