The Iranian parliament has launched an impeachment procedure against the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadeq, over the negligence that led to the explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in the south of the country.
This was stated in an interview with Tasnim by Mohammad Manan Raisi, a member of the Public Affairs Committee of the Iranian parliament. According to Mohammad Manan Raisi, the Qom representative started the impeachment process. Yesterday, Mohammad Manan Raisi submitted the impeachment proposal to the legislative branch of the parliament.
The head claims that there are eight grounds for Farzaneh Sadiq's impeachment:
1. Passivity and negligence in the Ports Organization,
2. Denying people their legal rights and shutting down the housing registration system,
3. Failure to fulfill duties in accordance with the Law "On Youth Population",
4. Very weak activity of the Ministry in implementing laws,
5. The incapacity to control the housing market situation,
6. Frequent terminations and unforeseen appointments,
7. Repeated violations of the law,
8. Ignorance of significant Ministry events.
Ten signatures are required by law for the impeachment process to be considered; however, information received yesterday evening indicates that over forty signatures have already been gathered.
What is the reason for the impeachment proposal?
Yesterday, two videos of speeches explaining the reasons for the impeachment of Manan Head Farzaneh Sadiq were released. Manan Raisi said: "Farzaneh Sadiqa made mistakes in the field of housing construction, but her mistakes are not limited to this. She locked the housing registration system. They have closed the housing registration system since the beginning of the 14th government. Regarding this, I wrote a letter to the president stating that it violates the constitution. The system still has not been opened after ten months. Shouldn't we be one step ahead of the people? Shouldn't we understand that this system is closed, housing is not being provided, and next year we will have an explosion in housing inflation?"
Manan Raisi also spoke about the Ports and Maritime Organization: "Have you seen the situation in Shahid Rajai Port (Bandar Abbas Port)? You are appointing an inexperienced person to lead the Ports Organization without anyone's knowledge! Farzaneh Sadiqa is an honorable, respected and experienced person, but he does not have even a day's experience in the Ports Organization."
